Paint a play house
When a family has a play house, memories are created that will last a lifetime. With the amazing colours of Dulux® Weathershield®, yours will be the most charming play house on the street.
Painting your play house
A step-by-step guide
Prepare the surface
If the surface has mould, remove all mould and mildew by applying Dulux Prep Wash or scrubbing with a diluted household bleach solution (one part bleach, three parts water). Rinse the surface. If the surface is peeling or flaking, remove all loose pain with a scraper or wire brush. If your surface has not been previously painted, use Dulux 1Step Prep as your preparation coat.
Cut in
Cut in around the edges of the wall with a brush — these are the areas the roller cannot easily reach. Maintain a wet-edge by cutting in larger areas in sections as you go. This will help to avoid ‘picture framing’ where unblended cut in areas remain obvious after rolling.
Painting
For best results, begin at the top and work your way down. Paint the underside of your boards then the face. Use long strokes in horizontal motions from one side to the other.
Repeat
Once the first coat is dry, repeat the total process again with a second coat.
A third coat
If painting bare timber a third coat will need to be applied.

Apply paint
Apply paint to the surface using short, horizontal brush strokes.
Smooth over
Once you’ve completed an area, while paint is still wet, lightly smooth over the painted section with long brush strokes. Do not reload the brush when you do this, a few strokes should be enough to smooth the surface.
Use a roller
Use a roller to paint in the middle section.
Repeat
Repeat this process for the second coat. Allow to dry, then give the surface a light sand with 400 grit sandpaper and repeat for a second coat.
