How Dulux Weathershield ColourGuard works

Dulux Weathershield ColourGuard is specially formulated with heavy duty reflective pigment for superior colour durability. As the sun's rays hit the painted surface, a percentage of visible and infrared rays are reflected so even the darkest colours stay truer for longer.

CHALKING

Exterior paint that is exposed to direct sunlight can degrade and breakdown over time. The sun can cause some of the chemicals in the paint to form fine particles, leaving a dusty residue over the surface. This problem is known as chalking and can be very prominent for dark paint colours.

BLISTERING

Paint exposed to direct sunlight becomes extremely hot, particularly dark colours that absorb more of the radiating heat. This can cause bubbles and blisters to appear in the surface of the paint. After a while, the blister will burst and rain and wind will remove the surface, leaving an ugly bare patch on the exterior paint work.

COLOUR FADE

Even the brightest and most vivid exterior paint can fade in colour over time. The sun’s rays can act as a bleaching agent on the paint work and gradually saps away the original colour of the paint.

This effect usually proceeds slowly. Depending on environmental factors, some areas may fade faster than others.
